OMAN

There is an endless array of opportunities for hikers, scramblers and rock climbers in this beautiful Middle Eastern country. Oman, the “Switzerland of the Middle East”, is politically stable and probably the safest country to visit in the region. It’s a progressive mix of old and modern and its friendly people are fairly well-off thanks to plenty of oil revenues, but without the flashy pomp and Disneyland-style extravagance that neighbouring Dubai is known for.

So far I’ve only been able to explore Jebel Shams – the highest mountain in Oman and the entire Arabian peninsula. But that has left me craving for more and one day I will be back for sure to explore more of this fascination country!
