Beautiful views of Davos Lake

The Seehorn forms the last high point of the long ridge that stretches northward from the Flüela Wisshorn and ends at the entrance to the Flüela Valley. This little peak is also one of the landmarks of Davos, with the bizarrely out-of-place InterContinental Hotel nicknamed “Golden Egg” at its foot. The promontory grants fabulous views over the town and Davos Lake.

For a quick and fun hike out of Davos the Seehorn is perfect. On ascent we chose more or less a direct line up the SW ridge on a narrow trail. Once past the climbing wall, there were even a few short scrambly bits on the very steep path. From the top there are nice views of the continuation of the ridge and the nearby Pischahorn. To get a peek of Davos Lake from up here is only a short walk north of the summit and definitely worth it.

The easiest option to get back is via the main trail, first heading southeast to a small saddle, then turning west and back into the forest. I quite enjoyed this little hike. Best of all, we had the peak to ourselves despite amazing summer weather with blue skies and plenty of sun.

The Seehorn and Davos below as seen from the west.

The route is well-marked and on a good trail.

Nearing the rock climbing area.

Lots of options here for rock climbers.

A peek down to Dake Lavos.

One of the short “via-ferrata-like” sections with fixed iron holds.

Approaching the summit.

A comfortable and spacious summit awaits.

Looking down the valley to the NE towards Klosters. Älpeltispitz is on the right.

To the SE, a gentle ridge continues to the Pischahorn (just right of centre) and eventually the pointy Isentällispitz (right).

A view of the Flüela Valley, with the Flüela Wisshorn at the end.

Close-up of the Flüela Wisshorn, a highly enjoyable scramble.

This is a rocky peak to the north called Casanna.

Along the ridge west of Casanna is the Weissfluh, a popular tourist destination with a gondola station at the top.

If you step a few metres north from the summit cairn, there are beautiful views of Davos Lake from here!

A closer look at the lake from above.

Heading back down the easy route.

Despite being so close to Davos on such a gorgeous day, we had this little peak all to ourselves today.
